Math Blaster Episode 1: DOS and Windows differences

Earlier, I told the story of how I saved the DOS version of Math Blaster Episode 1 and helped make it available again. Now, I'd like to show a few differences from the more commonly-available Windows version.

The Windows version has additional sound effects and slightly improved graphics throughout.

That planet-based timer sure looks different. It now has a ring around it!

Cave Runner now has treasure chests. If the player finds a treasure chest and answers the math problem given, they will be rewarded a tool which can defeat a creature. The player can keep going back to the chest to get more tools.

If that chest has some bug spray, we'll show that four-eyed bug!

A major regression, however, is the Y2K bug; 2024 will be displayed as 1924, for example. Strangely, the Macintosh port (based on the Windows version) does not have this bug, so it seems like a Windows-related oversight.

The game's not THAT old!

Finally, here are the credits for the DOS and Macintosh versions (I don't have a screencap of the Windows about yet). As you can see, the DOS version was first. Then Davidson ported it to Windows. Finally, Callisto ported the game to Macintosh, using the codebase of the Windows port.
